It looks like Reed Clemons is rebuilding his empire all in one location along Bee Caves Road. He's already found success with the Grove wine bar and Lola Savannah Coffee Lounge. With the addition of Good 2 Go, he has three places within a few feet of one another. The new place is strictly for folks who want their food to go, but don't expect second-rate takeout. Clemons has recruited some serious talent for this venture. The chef is Mark Strouhal, who has worked at Kenichi and the Driskill. The wine guy, Nathan Prater, finished in second place as Texas' Best Sommelier earlier this year. Good 2 Go even has a pastry chef, Mikyla Atkinson-Guerrero, who I can attest knows her way around an apple tart.

Over a few visits, we worked our way through most of the market selections. The poached salmon ($18 per pound) is moist and perfectly cooked. Ditto for the beef tenderloin ($26 per pound), cooked medium rare and covered with a peppery rub. Vegetable lovers should zoom to the curried cauliflower ($7 per pound), with an addictively complex sauce. We also love the black-truffle beets ($7 per pound) with subtle truffle aromas that don't drown out the beet flavors. Good 2 Go's pizza (ours was $18 for a 16-inch pizza plus two extra ingredients) has a nice, crispy crust and a light load of toppings. The wine selection is wisely chosen and fairly priced.

Your order, including wines, can be delivered within five miles. Sadly, you can't eat at Good 2 Go, even though there's a place to sit – something to do with permits – nor can you get a glass of wine. Since it delivers wine, it can't serve it (if that law sounds crazy, call your local Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission rep and ask them why TABC has such arcane and strange rules). Fans of the Clemons model of good food and interesting wine at medium prices will love Good 2 Go.
