› Look for information on upcoming Halloween celebrations on the Chronicle Food blog, On the Range.

› The Burnet Road Market (6701 Burnet Rd.) encourages guests to attend its Fall Festival in costumes and enjoy a punk rock musical fairy tale, kids' activities, a costume contest, trailer food court, and fresh produce. Saturday, Oct. 29, 9am-2pm.

› Attend the grand opening of the Soular Food Garden (1110 E. 12th) – a new shaded grove in East Austin with game courts, a stage, and a food court anchored by trailers from Hoover's Cooking (veggie-centric Southern comfort food) and El Naranjo (street food from Oaxaca, Mexico). Saturday, Oct. 29, 5pm.

› The Taste of Southpark Meadows features food samples from more than a dozen of the shopping center's restaurants, live music from Corrina's Dreamland Band, and the chance to purchase pink flamingo yard ornaments, all to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Each $5 wristband is worth 12 tastes. Saturday, Oct. 29, 5-7pm.

› The annual Green Corn Project's Cook Globally, Grow Locally fundraiser is a sip-and-stroll tasting party on the grounds of historic Boggy Creek Farm (3414 Lyons) with food and drinks from some of Austin's finest restaurants. Tickets are $35 in advance at the weekly farm stand or via www.greencornproject.org, and $40 at the gate. Sunday, Oct. 30, noon-3pm.

› The Draught House Pub & Brewery (4112 Medical Pkwy.) hosts a beer-and-cheese tasting pairing beers with selections by John Antonelli. Purchase $40 tickets at the bar or at Antonelli's Cheese Shop (4220 Duval St.). Sunday, Oct. 30, 1-3pm.

Chef Paul Petersen of Vivo's Lake Creek location (12233 RR 620 N. #105) will prepare a multicourse dinner paired with wines showcasing the restaurant's growing wine list. $75 per person; make necessary reservations at 331-4660. Tuesday, Nov. 1, 7pm.

› The Cabernet Grill (2805 Hwy. 16 S., Fredericksburg) hosts a multicourse fall dinner paired with various Texas wines made from grapes grown at the Newsom Vineyards on the Texas High Plains. $69.95 plus tax and gratuity; make necessary reservations at 830/990-5734. Thursday, Nov. 3, 6:30pm.

› Don't miss the debut of Top Chef: Texas with Austin chefs Paul Qui of Uchiko and Andrew Curren of 24 Diner in the competition. Wednesday, Nov. 2, 9pm on Bravo.
