• The whole family can work up a healthy appetite for Thanksgiving dinner by participating in the 20th annual ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot. This year's race begins at the Long Center and follows a new route. Participants can choose the chip-timed five-mile run, a one-mile walk, or the Stepping Stone School Kids K and will generate charitable donations for Caritas of Austin in the process. All registrations include a souvenir T-shirt with contest-winning art by Mike Haggerty. Complete registration details at www.thundercloud.com. Thursday, Nov. 25, 8am.

• If running through Downtown Austin is out, what about an invigorating 5K run through the Gruene Historic District to whet the holiday appetite? The run begins and ends in front of historic Gruene Hall; proceeds benefit Comal County charities. Register at www.comalcopsforkids.org. Thursday, Nov. 25, 8am.

Artisan Fair and Post-Thanksgiving Lunchtime Feast at Fall Creek Vineyards near Tow (www.fcv.com) offers a Hill Country road trip, artisan booths, live music, and a delicious holiday buffet (11:30am-1:30pm) for $24 per person. Reservations: 325/379-5361. Saturday, Nov. 27, 11am-5pm.
