Saturday Night Fest Enrichment Activities

Edible Austin, Central Market, and Farmhouse Delivery host a picnic-style book launch party for Amanda Hesser at Rain Lily Farm (914 Shady Ln.). Hesser will speak and sign copies of The Essential New York Times Cookbook. Local chefs will prepare dishes from the book, Tipsy Texan bartenders will demonstrate classic cocktail preparations, and La Strada will provide live musical entertainment. Tickets are $35. Make necessary reservations at 7-9pm.

• Food Network megastar Alton Brown will discuss his new book, Good Eats 2: The Middle Years, followed by a booksigning in the former Scarborough store space at 4001 N. Lamar. Seating will be limited to 300 people. Book Festival members ($50 donation) can get priority reserved seating, and Brown fans can pick up free advance tickets as long as the supply lasts at the info desk at Central Market. 7:30-9pm.
