• Award-winning cookbook author and farmers' market advocate Deborah Madison will sign copies of her newest book, Seasonal Fruit Des­serts: From Orchard, Farm, and Market (Broad­way Books, $32.50), at FINO (2905 San Gabriel, 474-2905) on Friday, April 30, 5-7pm, and at Boggy Creek Farm (3414 Lyons, www.boggycreekfarm.com) on Saturday, May 1, 9am-1pm.

• The Beat Divas whip up a sensational multicourse spring dinner seasoned with their own original food songs at the Central Market Cooking School (4001 N. Lamar, 206-1014, www.centralmarket.com). $50 per person; reservations necessary. Saturday, May 1, 6:30-9:30pm.

• Put on your coolest seersucker suit and most stylish hat to attend the Hats & Horses Kentucky Derby party at J Black's Feel Good Lounge (710-B W. Sixth, 433-6954, www.jblacks.com). Participate in the costume contest and nosh on Hot Browns and mint juleps before watching the historic Run for the Roses. Saturday, May 1, 11am-6pm.

Jack Allen's Kitchen (7720 Hwy. 71 W., 852-8558, www.jackallenskitchen.com) hosts a five-course farm-to-table dinner paired with custom Maker's Mark cocktails. $65 per person; make necessary reservations at banquets@jackallenskitchen.com. Tuesday, May 4, 7pm.

• Some individual $100 tickets are still available for the third annual Farm to Plate dinner benefiting the Sustainable Food Center at the Barr Mansion & Artisan Ballroom (10463 Sprinkle, www.barrmansion.com).
