Saturday, Jan. 16 Bring two homemade pies to share during the Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church Pie Social – one to be enjoyed by guests; the other may be entered in the Dream Pie Contest or donated to the silent auction. Proceeds go to the Sweet Home Restoration Fund. Contest and auction pies will be received by church volunteers between 1 and 2pm in the fellowship hall, 1725 W. 11th. Program in the sanctuary starts at 2pm.
Monday, Jan. 18, 1-3pm Volunteer to serve pie baked by Texas Pie Kitchen at Austin Resource Center for the Homeless, 500 E. Seventh.
Monday, Jan. 18, 11am-3pm Stop by the Pie4All kitchen (tent) at the Cultural Festival at Huston-Tillotson University, 900 Chicon, following the 17th annual MLK Day Community March. Tastes of fresh-baked pies donated by restaurants, bakeries, and culinary students will be sold to raise awareness and funds to save the 134-year-old Limerick-Frazier House at 810 E. 13th.
