Edible Austin and BookPeople (603 N. Lamar, 472-5050, www.bookpeople.com) will host a reception and booksigning on the mezzanine for Jill Richardson, author of Recipe for America: Why Our Food System Is Broken and What We Can Do to Fix It (Consortium Books, $15.95), a new book promoting sustainable agriculture as the best solution to America's food crisis. Local craft beers and dishes from area food producers will be served. Friday, Nov. 6, 7pm.

Dai Due locavore chef Jesse Griffiths makes his debut with a stall in the Austin Farmers' Market (Fourth & Guadalupe), serving grilled sausages and hot biscuits and gravy and selling packaged sausages, handmade charcuterie, condiments, and ready-to-cook dishes from his online butcher shop. Saturday, Nov. 7, 9am-1pm.

Josh Wilson invites longtime customers and beer aficionados to help him celebrate the 41st anniversary of the Draught House Pub (4112 Medical Pkwy., 452-6258, www.draughthouse.com). Enjoy cask ales and draft brews in commemorative glasses, various tasty kabobs, beer trivia games with prizes from Austin Homebrew Supply, and tunes from DJ Jubal's extensive vinyl collection. • Check out Austin's newest farmers' market this weekend. The HOPE Farmers Market (414 Waller, www.hopefarmersmarket.org) sets up on Sunday mornings just east of the freeway near Progress Coffee (505 San Marcos). Look for fresh produce, area meats and dairy, prepared foods, free coffee, and arts & crafts. Sundays, 11am-3pm.

Sagra Trattoria & Bar (1610 San Antonio, 535-5988, www.sagrarestaurant.net) chef/owner Gabriel Pellegrini hosts another in his series of free seasonal feasts. The menu will be based on fennel and presented family-style on a first-come, first-served basis until the food runs out. Sunday, Nov. 8, 4pm.

• The HeartGift Foundation funds a program that brings disadvantaged children from around the world to Austin for lifesaving heart surgeries. The annual Fine Wine and Luxe Living dinner and auction benefit will be held at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center (1900 University Ave.). La Condesa (400 W. Second, 499-0300) hosts the first in a series of seasonal harvest dinners to benefit the Sustainable Food Center (www.sustainablefoodcenter.org).
