• The Wine & Food Foundation of Texas presents what looks to be a spectacular wine dinner to benefit the fifth annual TexSom Texas Sommelier Conference at Mirabelle (8127 Mesa, 346-7900): Five courses paired with five mature wines presented by sommeliers Mark Sayre, Devon Broglie, and Craig Collins and chefs Happy Abdelbaki, Josh Watkins, Alma Alcocer-Thomas, Jonathan Gelman, Michael Vilim and Pablo Sanchez. $95; $85 for foundation members. Hosteria Verde supper club chef John Cain will create a late spring dinner to be served in the garden at the American Botanical Coun­cil (6200 Manor Rd., www.herbalgram.org). $65, BYOB. Make necessary reservations at www.hosteriaverde.com; if you miss this dinner, the two other very inviting events already scheduled for June are filling up fast! Sunday, May 31, 7pm.

Olivia (2043 S. Lamar, 804-2700, www.olivia-austin.com) chef/owner James Holmes will prepare a five-course Brewer's Dinner paired with craft brews from Real Ale Brewing Company of Blanco, using each of the selected brews in his dishes, as well. $50 per person; reservations are necessary. (While you're there, check out the new three-course $38 prix-fixe menu offered Sunday-Tuesday. Monday, June 1, 7pm.

• It's still not too late to sign up for the Kids' Chef Camp Summer 2009 at Faraday's Kitchen Store (1501 RR 620 N., 266-5666) – great fun for kids ages 7-13.
