Filmmaker and author George Motz will discuss his cross-country trek in search of America's best hamburgers (which included stops at Hut's, Casino el Camino, and Dirty Martin's Place in Austin) and sign copies of Hamburger America (Running Press) at Borders in the Domain (3309 Esperanza Crossing). Share Our Strength's annual Taste of the Nation benefit for hunger relief will feature dishes from area chefs Jack Gilmore of Z'Tejas, David Garrido of Chuy's, Bruce Auden of Biga on the Banks, Robert Rhoades of Hudson's on the Bend, Kent Rathbun of Jasper's, Alma Alcocer-Thomas of Jeffrey's, Rebecca Rather of Rather Sweet Bakery & Cafe, Jonathan Gelman of the Driskill Grill, and Tyson Cole of Uchi paired with fine wines and liquors. The Sustainable Food Center has invited area chefs and winemakers to join in its first Farm to Plate benefit for the Austin Farmers' Market in Triangle Park (4600 Guadalupe). Chefs will present tasting portions of dishes based on produce and prepared foods regularly sold at the market. Pay the $60 ticketless entry fee at the market on Saturday or Wednesday or at www.sustainablefoodcenter.org. Wednesday, May 7, 5-8pm.
