Contribute to the nation's largest food drive – Stamp Out Hunger – by helping the National Association of Letter Carriers gather food donations for the Capital Area Food Bank. Letter carriers will deliver bags provided by HEB so Austinites can fill them with such nonperishable food items as canned tuna, meats or chili, peanut butter, canned vegetables, beans, pasta and pasta sauce, healthy cereals, and baby food and then leave them at the mailbox. Letter carriers will deliver the bags to CAFB. Saturday, May 12.

Treat mom to a one-of-a-kind luncheon at Spicewood Vineyards (830/693-5328; www.spicewoodvineyards.com) prepared by chef Beth Pav of Catering by Design. The three-course meal paired with Spicewood wines will cost $35 for adults, and there is an alternative children's menu available by advance request for $12. Call or go online to make necessary reservations. Sunday, May 13, 1pm.

If Mom is a fan of classic Hollywood screwball comedies, she should love Frank Capra's award-winning It Happened One Night at the Alamo Drafthouse South. Chef John Bullington will take viewers on a culinary tour up the Eastern Seaboard with a five-course feast designed to match locations in the film; $60 tickets can be purchased online at www.originalalamo.com. Sunday, May 13, 7pm.

Don't miss Celebrating Water: Clean, Local, Efficient, Precious, the first 2007 installment of the Sustainable Shopper's Ball (www.sustain-a-ball.org) held in conjunction with the Sunset Valley Farmers Market (Toney Burger Parking Lot, Highway 290 West). Shop for green and sustainable living products, hear experts speak about water issues, eat local organic food, and enjoy fun activities and live musical entertainment. Free family-friendly event. Saturday, May 19, 9am-1pm.

Mandola Estate Winery (512/858-1470, www.mandolawines.com) invites you to enjoy a food-and-wine-pairing dinner and get a sneak peek at the cuisine of their upcoming restaurant, Trattoria Lisina. Trattoria chef John Lichtenberger has designed a four-course meal to be paired with wines chosen by Mandola winemaker Mark Penna. Tickets are $60 plus tax and can be purchased by contacting the winery. Saturday, May 19, 7pm.

Alamo Drafthouse Lake Creek (13729 Research, www.drafthouse.com) presents the Avery Beer Experience, a tasting and discussion of microbrewed Avery Beers of Boulder, Colo. Sample five flights of three beers each plus fascinating discussion, trivia and prizes, and crazy beer commercials. No movie; $30 tickets online. Sunday, May 20, 6pm.
