Kate Heyhoe, cookbook author and executive editor of Global Gourmet (www.globalgourmet.com), will teach a class on recipe writing and development at the Whole Foods Culinary Center (Fifth & Bowie, 542-2340). This would be a worthwhile class for any local chef who thinks he or she might someday want to write a cookbook; $45, reservations necessary; 2-4pm, Saturday, Sept. 23.

Enjoy another Sunset Over the Vineyard dinner at Stone House Vineyard (24350 Haynie Flat Rd., 264-3630). The menu includes a five-course meal complemented by Australian wines. Cost is $65, and reservations are necessary; 7-10pm, Saturday, Sept. 23.

The traveling California culinary gypsy caravan known as Outstanding in the Field returns to Austin this weekend on the 2006 North American Farm Tour. The group will present a dinner prepared by Lake Austin Spa & Resort chef Terry Conlan at Boggy Creek Farm (3414 Lyons, 926-4650). Dishes in the five-course meal will feature meats, cheeses, and fresh produce from area ranchers, organic farmers, and artisan food producers, complemented by a selection of Texas wines.
