On the occasion of the 15th Annual 'Austin Chronicle' Hot Sauce Festival, some chile-pepper reflections

Chiles – the bountiful late-summer crop of brilliant colors in the shimmering Texas heat. In the last weeks of August, we Chronicle folks always have visions of chile peppers dancing in our heads. We celebrate them under tents in Waterloo Park and in the pages of the paper. This year, we've got lyrical chile-pepper memories from some of our Food staff, a review of the most recent book from the renowned "Pepper Lady," Jean Andrews, plus the scoop on a few new products from some festival vendors.
