Kosher Symbols

Look closely at a kosher food label and you'll see a small little sign like these (pictures of the symbols) on the front of the packages. This tells you that the food has been inspected by one of the many kosher certifying agencies in the United States. Each agency identifies itself by its own unique symbol. While the symbols appearing on this page are the most well-known because of their national presence and wide acceptance, there are many other smaller certifying agencies with approved products on a regional or local level. When the word "pareve" appears next to the symbol, this indicates that the product can be eaten with either meat- or dairy-based foods. If the letter 'D' appears next to the symbol, that indicates that the item contains dairy products. The following stores covered in this article carry kosher items:
