Lakeside Dining 2000: Many Restaurants, Not Much Water

Smokey J's Bar B Q

7008 RR 620 N., 331-4888

Daily, 7-10:30am (breakfast tacos); 10am-7pm (barbecue)

Smokey J's is a quintessential Texas roadside barbecue joint with a smoking pit out back, window service, and a screened-in porch full of picnic tables for those who want to "eat in." The victuals here are available by the sandwich, plate, and pound, and are of the serviceable, stick-to-your ribs variety. Both a liquor store and a 7-11 are close by, making an icy cold beer with your lunch both tempting and convenient.
