Lakeside Dining 2000: Many Restaurants, Not Much Water

The Travis Room at Lakeway Inn

101 Lakeway Drive, 261-6600

Daily, 7:30am-10pm

When chef Chris Tomboni arrived at the Travis Room a couple years back, he made a concerted effort to upgrade the dining options at the Lakeway Inn and christened his cuisine "haute Hill Country." Tomboni's menus have been very popular with the locals, attracting a very loyal following to this country club-style dining room overlooking the lake. Because the Travis Room serves business travelers and vacationing families as well as local residents, the breakfast buffet and lunch menus tend to steer nearer the middle-of-the-road. Tomboni's more innovative beef and game creations appear on the dinner menu. The biweekly Friday seafood buffets are almost always a sellout.
