Dear Editor,
Many thanks to Gerald E. McLeod for his 1,539th (!) “Day Trips.” ["
Galveston Island State Park," Feb. 26] I thoroughly enjoyed reading of his visit to Galveston Island State Park in this week's issue. After his frank admission that he wasn't a birder, it made his appreciation of the great and snowy egrets as they "danced, sparred and preened" near the road even more special - and having witnessed roseate spoonbills down in Port A, I wholeheartedly agree with Gerald's assessment: "The best description is 'Wow.'"
