Disappointment Burger

RECEIVED Tue., Jan. 5, 2021

Dear Editor,
As a loyal reader for 15+ years, I was deeply disappointed the Chronicle would not only publish an anti-Semitic epithet but praise a restaurant that uses the epithet in its name.  (See “Burgers for Life,” [Food,] Oct. 16, 2020.)  “JewBoy” is among the most hateful ethno-religious insults. It is what anti-Semitic bullies called my late father before beating him up.  Would you consider endorsing a restaurant named “N-word Chicken,” even if it were owned by an African American?  Then please abstain from anti-Jewish slurs too – and post a retraction to the online version of your article. Keep Austin weird, not racist.

Cruz Blues

RECEIVED Sun., Jan. 3, 2021

Dear Editor,
There is no evidence, as proven in 60 court cases (including cases in the Supreme Court) of widespread voter fraud that would alter the results of the election. Every state has certified their votes after following procedures outlined by their own state governments. I am livid that a senator from Texas is planning to contest the electoral college votes. Sen. Cruz has always been the worst sort of cynical politician, but participating in an attempt to overthrow the decisive results of the November election is a new low, even for him. Senator Cruz knows there is no fraud and he is trying to sow doubt in our election system. History books will remember the senator as a traitor who tried to undermine all of American democracy, and so will voters.
