Dear Editor, I've been living in the Mueller area now for five years and this is going on my sixth. For the past five years, I've written to the editor of the neighborhood newspaper begging them to take down the lighted sign above the old airport tower that states in white bulbs, NOEL. I'm Jewish and know many other non-Christian people in this neighborhood from Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, and Jewish, not to mention other lesser-known practices such as Kwanzaa and others. I wrote to the editor and asked to please take down the offensive NOEL sign since a) it is Christian only b) not everyone celebrates a Christian holiday and c) Austin is far more diverse now than it has ever been. To respect all of us please put up something like HOLIDAYS OR HAPPY HOLIDAYS. The rude retort from the editor was nothing short of a blunt "NO" without explanation or kindness. That's what community looks like here at Mueller. It's all a bunch of BS. As far as other opinions or even suggestions go the decision-makers do not commune with those of us living here. Top-down approach all over.
