Dear Editor, The decision to cancel SXSXW is a hidden opportunity for the city. Step back and take time to reassess near dependence on parties, events, and festivals for municipal income. Think about instead increasing reliance on private corporations already being taxed in other large Texas cities. It represents a chance to both relieve the tax burden on local taxpayers and prevent revenue loss all at once. No we cannot entirely eliminate chance of mass health emergencies, but we can and should keep up our municipal budgets.
