Mr. Oops

RECEIVED Wed., Dec. 4, 2019

Dear Editor,
While Rick Perry thinks he speaks for the Almighty and knows why the Lord does what He does, he also states – in his book Fed Up – that when growing up, “… [our family] believed that America was the greatest nation on Earth. We still do.”
So, tell me, Rick, if that’s true and you still believe that … why do you wear a Make America Great Again hat?
Perry has turned from a description of Trump as “a toxic mix of demagoguery, mean-spiritedness and nonsense” to “the chosen one.”
You had it right the first time, Mr. Oops.

What a Hoot!

RECEIVED Wed., Dec. 4, 2019

Dear Editor,
In a surreal, self-contradictory decision by the Texas Commission on Judicial Conduct, it recently ordained that a Texas judge who refuses on religious grounds to perform same-sex weddings was violating the Texas Code of Judicial Conduct, which states: “A judge shall conduct all of the judge’s extra-judicial activities so that they do not cast reasonable doubt on the judge’s capacity to act impartially as a judge." The commission says the judge's stance on same-sex weddings casts "doubt on her capacity to act impartially to persons appearing before her as a judge due to the person’s sexual orientation.”
What a hoot! The commission evidently is not intelligent enough to see that it is violating that same code! By taking a stand against a pro-traditional marriage judge, they are casting doubt about their capacity to act impartially to other pro-traditional marriage people appearing before them!
But we shouldn't be surprised at the ridiculous nature of the commission's argument. The whole pro-LGBTQ movement is based on false premises and the denial of reality. LGBTQ people only have pseudo "arguments" to back them up. It is easy to point out fatal logical flaws in all of their "arguments."
Thinking people have known for centuries that homosexual activity is clearly immoral (Plato, for example, perceptively taught that over 2,000 years ago). Many other intellectuals through the years have also deprecated homosexual activity. So, to put voluntary, aberrant, homosexual activity on the same level as, for examples, involuntary skin color or age is absurd and is downright offensive to many people of color.
Talk about being on the wrong side of history! Unreal. Beam me up, Scotty! The inmates are taking over the asylum!

This Is the Moment

RECEIVED Tue., Dec. 3, 2019

Dear Editor,
I am a senior citizen and U.S. Navy veteran, and I want my members of Congress to address skyrocketing prescription drug prices. There are bipartisan proposals in Congress to fix this – so this is the moment to finally act and enact overdue legislation into law.
Like many fellow seniors, I cannot afford to keep paying higher and higher prices for the medications I need. No one should have to choose between putting food on the table and filling lifesaving prescriptions.
I'm demanding that my members of Congress vote yes on a bill that lowers drug prices. Please emphasize this issue in your reporting and publication!

Thanks and Praise

RECEIVED Tue., Dec. 3, 2019

Dear Editor,
Thanks and praise to the governor and the first lady of Texas, and all the state agencies, for coming into the city. Thanks for getting most of the unsightly, unhealthy, unsanitary campsites cleaned up. Much appreciated, especially here in South Austin. What a relief. Absolutely NO THANKS to the loaded (millionaire), lousy (sorry), lunatic (insane), de Blasio-wannabe mayor of Austin.
I don't understand any of the STUPID crap this guy pulls, along with all the “bobblehead” dolls on the dais with him. It seems all they do is nod yes, to whatever he orders, commands, or demands. I guess if you're the MILLIONAIRE MAYOR, you may think you own the city. Well, one thing is for sure, he knows how to spend and waste the taxpayers' money. Tax us to the MAX.
This baboso needs to be recalled ASAP, along with the other lug nuts on “his” Council. God help us (city of Austin) if he gets to complete his second wasted term.
Last time I looked, the city shield said “The City of Austin.” NOT “The City of Adler.” Again, thanks, GOVERNOR.
