Dear Editor,
This is a comment about the
review of
Sophisticated Giant, by Maxine Gordon, written by Jay Trachtenberg, Oct. 23.
The review covered the details and the intention of the book very nicely. The one thing that I would wish to see corrected is the use of the past tense in the last three sentences. The time is now. The scholarly work, the jazz life, and the music are fully alive in the present. Let's not relegate it to the past.
Viva la musica.
