[Michael King] and Nick [Barbaro] are two of my favorite local journalists. I always look forward to your Chronicle
contributions. In my opinion, you are both among the more knowledgeable and objective in verbally cutting through the myriad local issues and positions. In other words, you are usually the antithesis of “fake news.”
However, your article last week about the Chamber’s CodeNEXT survey was, in my opinion, way off base in implying a recent “warming to CodeNEXT.” ["Warming to CodeNEXT?
" News, May 18.] The only thing warming since the 6-month-old survey is the weather. Since it was conducted, a third highly criticized CodeNEXT draft has been released, 34,000 citizens have signed a petition to “kill” it, and the Planning Commission has been challenged as being Charter-illegal “water boys for the growth cartel.” That doesn’t sound like much of a heat wave to me!
In fact, I have heard that more recent surveys show there is serious “trouble in River City” for CodeNEXT.
