War Protests Continue

RECEIVED Wed., July 6, 2011

Dear Editor,
Thank you to Michael Ventura for his piece [“Letters at 3AM,” July 1] on veteran suicides and the shameful lies that perpetuate and expand these wars. He is correct that "liberals" are generally silent. Worse, liberal legislators like our own Lloyd Doggett continue to vote to fund these wars at great human cost and at the expense of domestic needs – like veterans' health care! It is not true, however, that there is "nothing" happening in response. There are a few of us who refuse to be silent. We protested Bush's lies and we continue to protest Obama's. If Mr. Ventura does not know about us, perhaps it is because the media, including his own paper, will no longer cover us. To those of you who, like Mr. Ventura, are outraged and disgusted, join us in the streets the next time you see us with our signs. We need you.
Thank you,
Fran Clark
