Dear Editor, I was driving from San Antonio to Austin last Saturday morning along north I-35 in the vicinity of Onion Creek Road and noticed what appeared to be an assembly line of Austin Police officers issuing traffic citations to motorists. Police motorcycle units had drivers pulled over all up and down I-35. I was shocked at the number of uniformed police officers assigned to this specific stretch of I-35. There must have been three or four motorcycle units and at least two cruisers issuing citations. That's a lot of uniformed officers to assign to one specific area just to issue traffic citations. I guess Austin doesn't have a problem with more serious crimes like San Antonio does. But then again, maybe Austin has such an overabundance of police officers they can assign an entire substation to just issue tickets. Or, could it be that the city of Austin needs to generate easy revenue for its city budget? I wish San Antonio had that luxury!
