More Texas Reps Need to Support Fair Elections Now Act

RECEIVED Tue., Nov. 3, 2009

Dear Editor,
Do you want your candidates to be free from the need and fear of special interests and to spend their time focusing on the public's business, not fundraising? The Fair Elections Now Act (House Resolution 1826) would create publicly funded campaigns to help neutralize the influence of special interests in manipulating public policy. So far there are 110 co-sponsors, including Rep. John Larson, chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, and Rep. Chris Van Hollen, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, but only six of the 32 Texas congresspeople signed on. Channel your outrage at special interests into doing something about it. Take a few minutes to call your congressman, and ask your friends to do the same.
