Dear Editor, The New York Times reports today that the Senate Finance Committee has already tossed aside the idea of a government-run insurance plan that would compete with private insurers! If that decision stands, then the only thing accomplished would be to deliver 47 million currently uninsured people as a captive audience to the private insurers! Based on projections, the estimated average senator's 2006 campaign cost $10 million. That means that a senator needs to raise more than $4,000 a day to survive. Is your senator listening to you? Hey senator, “Who's your daddy?”
