Carrasco 'Rumors,' True and Not

RECEIVED Mon., July 20, 2009

Dear Editor,
As a friend, I want to clarify that Joe King Carrasco did not initiate or write the story on his connection to Michael Jackson [“Off the Record,” Music, July 3] and does not deserve Tina Sattler’s charge of trying to “cash in on Jackson’s death” [“Postmarks,” July 10].
With respect to Joe’s musical accomplishments, I encourage readers to listen to his recently released Rancho No Tengo. It’s being played on radio stations around the country (but not in Austin), including Sirius Radio’s Outlaw Country channel. Check out two of my favorites: “It’s These Changes” and the apropos “Rumors,” in which Joe sings how “rumors have no feelings" and "make these vicious rumors go away.”
