By the People for the People

Dear Editor,
American people have been handing their rights over to the American government for years now. Isn't it time that we stopped? How many of you feel as I do? Let's take the U.S. back to where it is supposed to be. Obviously our government doesn't care what we think. Seventy-eight percent of the American population voted against the bailout plan, yet we implemented it regardless.
What happened to the entire reason why America's first colonists left for the New World? They wanted to escape people that they didn't believe should be so in control of their lives. Yet our government has put us in that same position.
Why not implement a new system? How about we go to a survival of the fittest attitude with this ridiculous war on drugs. The government’s biggest argument is that it's not healthy for us, it's addictive, etc. Well, how about we just let the people who get addicted and can't handle it die off?
Why arrest people who want to do their own things and be self-sufficient? Why let the government tell you what you can and cannot do? Tell them to go back to their places and stick with the defense and growth of our country. What we do to ourselves should be dealt with on a state level, if any. At least we would have a little more control at that point.
So stand up for your rights for once. Start saying "no" to the government officials. They think that they are smarter than us, so let's show them that we still have some fight left.
That is what our government was intended for. To be run by the people for the people. So, I ask you, is it time to take back the country that we all love so much?
