Is Proposition 2 really a “no-brainer” [“'Chronicle' Endorsements
,” News, Oct. 31]? Is it enough to “keep Austin's word”? I'm used to seeing dueling slogans in a political campaign, but the Chronicle
, in its recent positions on Proposition 2, doesn't seem to have dug much deeper. The voters need someone to look closely at the claims of both sides and come up with a dispassionate conclusion. I was disappointed that the Chronicle
didn't do that.
For another view – one that takes the arguments of both sides seriously – take a look at the ballot study conducted by Liveable City at www.liveablecity.org
Reasonable people can disagree on Proposition 2 but only when their arguments are based on facts, not catchy phrases. That's the real “no-brainer.”
