Making Readers Work

RECEIVED Wed., Oct. 15, 2008

Dear Editor,
Thanks, Michael Ventura. By not boring us with the details of your economic philosophy [“Letters at 3am,” Oct. 10], you forced bookish, nerdy types like myself to look up “anarcho-syndicalism” on Wikipedia. How dare you make me read?!
In the future, you should definitely not write a piece elaborating on your philosophy. I mean, with the latest crisis on top of all the other crap we've had to put up with, isn't there already enough cynicism and distrust in the government and the cronies on Wall Street? The last thing this society needs is to entertain the possibility of an alternative.
