Danny Roy Young Should Have Been on the Cover of the 'Chronicle'
RECEIVED Wed., Aug. 27, 2008
Dear Louis, I've been a longtime subscriber to the Chronicle, hooking on after our first visit to Austin in 1993. My wife and I have been returning on countless occasions ever since (and to the extent that our son now lives there). Your paper has helped keep us at the pulse of all things Austin, and we thank you for it. As much a part of the fabric of Austin as the Chronicle is, so was Danny Roy Young. For us and countless others, he was the welcome mat and as great an ambassador as the city has ever had. Like Clifford Antone and Don Walser before him, if ever someone deserved his face on the cover of the Chronicle for all that he has given to that city and what he meant to the people of it, it is Danny Roy Young.
