State Needs to Be Held Accountable

RECEIVED Thu., Aug. 21, 2008

Dear Editor,
The piece on the targeted child counselor was an eye-opener [“Exoneration for Child Counselor Targeted by Strayhorn,” News, Aug. 22]. The conduct by state agencies to get someone on trumped-up charges is disgusting at best. Unfortunately, the agencies will not be held accountable, other than the monetary settlement which the lady still has to collect from the state. This is an example of what the state can do to a person if it sets its sights on someone. No limit to the ability to abuse power by the former comptroller, backed up by a phony case generated by the Department of Family and Protective Services. This piece gives some real insights into the character of Carole Keeton Strayhorn and supports her campaign motto of “one tough grandma.” Not the kind of information one would find in the Austin American-Statesman.
