Dear Editor, I was disappointed again this year to see many nonlocal businesses win the coveted "Best of Austin" award [Oct. 14]. While I understand this is the result of a voting process, I still feel that the true "Best of Austin" is being forgotten. This is, of course, the local businesses. Many of these do not have huge advertising budgets, as do the large corporations, and would greatly benefit from the advertising opportunities afforded by this award. In addition, one of the many things that makes Austin so great is that it always evidences a true grassroots spirit when presented with a local business in need. Isn't there some way to limit the "Best of Austin" to local businesses, or at least have a special category for them?
