Great Place

RECEIVED Wed., July 6, 2005

Dear Editor,
I don't have kids but had the chance to take a friend's teen to Hugh Jazz Skate Park near Hudson's Bend. It's a feel-good place where Joe behind the counter (or wherever he's needed) keeps an eye on things and engages with boys and girls of all ages. In fact, the kids here interact with all ages, not just their own. Joe plays music, parents come and go, smaller kids watch cartoons. If skateboarders belong to a counterculture, this place is counterculture light. And Joe himself, nice as he is, probably has a healthy dose of anti-authority. Weeklong day camps are provided at a reasonable price. Well worth your support. And since a dance studio will open next door, let's do both!
