Dear Editor, No one loses from this [smoking ban], and I don't understand why those opposed to the ban fail to realize it. The only way clubs or other businesses see dips in attendance is if smokers stop coming out, "in protest" or some such nonsense. And then the blame is on them as they turn out to not be true supporters of whatever "scene" they so avidly sneered about when they could feed their addiction in everyone's faces. Restraining yourself from lighting up for around a few hours at a time is hardly too much to ask with regard to public health and general civic improvement. You can still smoke at home, in your car, and on the sidewalk, but who knows: maybe you'll get so used to the loveliness of enjoying a smoke-free town that you'll give it up altogether, improving your own quality of life! Relish the thought! Congratulations, Austin, on making the correct decision, taking a crucial step to usher yourself into the 21st century.
