Dear Editor, I applaud y'all for publicizing the proposed smoking ban ["Smoke Signals," Music, April 15; “Where There's Smoke ..,” News, April 15]. Anyone who frequents bars and clubs needs to get out there and vote no on this ordinance. This will be a low turnout election, and those that do vote are likely to be the very people who never patronize bars and music venues. I fear that suburban soccer moms and retirees who read the referendum text will think it sounds good, even though they have zero vested interest in the outcome. Everyone who wants to keep local bars alive and prevent downtown from being overrun by Dave & Buster's and other nasty chain bars needs to vote no on May 7 (early voting starts April 20, so you have no excuse).
