Against Tasers

RECEIVED Wed., March 23, 2005

Dear Editor,
I am interested in starting a group of people against the use of Tasers, or joining a group of such. My husband was killed in August 2004 by the police who came into our home and Tasered my husband, who had become delusional. They Tasered him in excess of 10 times on his naked body. I am at a loss as to what to do next in response to this dehumanizing way these "nonlethals" are used upon especially minority men. He called 911 requesting help, and they came in and killed the person who had called for help. The police department is not cooperating in providing myself or my attorney with the police report, and it has been more than six months. I know that they are trying to hide what they did, but I am not going to let that happen. Something needs to be done to stop the use of these weapons to prevent any more of these useless deaths. Taser International is making big bucks while the families of the victims are left in shambles. There needs to be some type of uproar over the use of these things. There have been many deaths here since my husband died.
Thanks,
