Unhappy With Lance's Victory Party

RECEIVED Tue., Aug. 17, 2004

Dear Editor,
I attended the Lance Armstrong celebration last night and I'd like the coordinators of the event to know how disappointed I was with the event. I was very skeptical of the venue, considering that Auditorium Shores seemed like a much better place to have it. Previous Lance celebrations at Auditorium Shores provided for a perfect layout where bicycles, families, and pedestrians could spread out and enjoy the event with a nice view. The Congress Street venue was awful. There was no place to sit, I felt like a sardine in a tin can, and the parade and concert were best viewed from the office buildings that line the street. Furthermore, there seem to be a lot less bicyclists who rode there. It certainly lacked an Austin feel to it. What a shame – I expected Lance's sixth tour victory party to be the best! He deserved better.
