'Once' Needs to Be Seen More Than That to Make Sense

Re: Once Upon a Time in Mexico
I went to see the movie and did not enjoy it. I had high hopes and expectations; especially with the cast that Mr. Rodriguez got together: Willem Dafoe, Mickey Rourke, Johnny Depp, Salma Hayek, Rubén Blades, Antonio Banderas, Danny Trejo.
My wife and I could not find the flow of the movie; we needed a map. I am not writing to put down anyone's film or production of this film. I am writing to voice my opinion that, yes, this film could have been better organized.
I thought to myself, "How long did it take Mr. Rodriguez to organize a script?" I read the interview ["The Producer," Sept. 12] and was disturbed to find out it only took 10 days.
Viewers enjoy movies that hold their attention, that make them think or provoke thought, that may have a degree of suspense, a degree of unpredictability; in sum, people go to the movies to be entertained but with substance, with a plot, a moving and unfolding direction.
How often can a film producer get a well-known cast like the one he got?
Mr. Rodriguez did not make the mark, unfortunately. I hope future films will take more time, time to collect thoughts and ideas that in turn will only enhance the film's outcome directed at a viewing and supporting public.
Mr. Diego Rodriguez
