Hedda Layne: My mother took me to see the movie New York, New York starring Liza Minelli. It ... well ... changed my life. I had already been a songstress and performer in my own home with my mother being my biggest fan shouting "project!" I then won first prize in a talent show in the 5th grade and then realized, "Ahhhh, this is want I want to do for the rest of my life, entertain!"
A.C.: What (or who) are your fashion influences?
H.L.: Again, Liza in New York, New York (Forties era) had everything to do with my beginning vintage influences. I've since, always been into vintage. I like to combine vintage couture and vintage pieces with current couture. I simple adore Galliano, Dior, Chanel, and Gautier.
A.C.: In your dreams, what venue are you playing, and what is the big event?
H.L.: Simple. Carnegie Hall. Hmm, I don't know ... Hedda Layne at Carnegie Hall?
A.C.: Husband/producer: Is that a hard one to juggle?
H.L.: It can be very difficult at times. But, you know, I can't imagine performing or being with anyone else, besides Troy Lee. I do have to separate career from home life, but I am so very lucky that I have someone like Troy, that I love, adore, and respect. Remember, he also has to put up with me!
A.C.: What are you working on now?
H.L.: We are making arrangements for national and European tours, as well as our new CD.
