When a tight-knit circle of married gays/lesbians find themselves challenged by the perspectives of their dapper transgender friend, it’s clear that the march toward progress is anything but unified. As events unfold, each character grapples with the evolving landscape of LGBTQIA+ rights and acceptance, and conservative hearts are revealed where you’d least expect.
This new show highlights new developments in Jeffrey Gibson’s genre-bridging practice, with 50 works made between 2014 and 2018 – including intricately beaded wall-hangings and punching bags, paintings, ceramics, garments, helmets, and a new video commissioned for this exhibition.
