COTFG NMASS is back with 12 performances over three days at Ground Floor Theatre, with music, improvisation, free jazz, and multi-genre styles bringing diversity to the Austin underground music community.

With a name perfectly unsuited for search engine optimization, Exercise serves those yearning for the Aughts’ post-punk revival through loose lyrical derisions and twiddling synths. Debuting their sophomore album following the passing of co-vocalist and synth player Keller LeVine in 2020, the foursome strides forward with Ipso Facto. Tickling guitar lines remain amid bold grievances. “It’s so fucking unfair what happened to you,” they echo on second single “Glue.” Chords barrel forward with the spirit of jangle pop, but carry forth a lush atmosphere like LCD Soundsystem. Vocals inflect with slightly more charisma than James Murphy’s sad drone. Call that post-post-post-punk?

Float Films: Take a dip then take in a screening of a classic Texas film, a brutal action thriller with lots of locally shot scenes for Austinites to appreciate. Pool opens at 5 and films begin at dusk every Friday this summer.

That legendary company called Doctuh Mistuh Productions returns to Austin after a five-year hiatus to present this rock musical adaption of the grisly Borden Family murders in 1893 and the subsequent trial of Lizzie Borden.
