One-time Austin resident Bob Mould returned to his punk roots recently, 2016’s breakup memoir Patch the Sky summoning his Hüsker Dü/Sugar-era voltage. On the new Sunshine Rock, he orders himself via sticky note at his new Berlin workstation to write happy tunes. Much of it does read sunnier, though “I Fought” is as excoriating as anything he’s done.

Support comes from Swedish star Clara Mae (née Hagman), who broke out on co-writes with big dance names like David Guetta and her buoyant kiss-off “I’m Not Her.”

During 2018, Medearis – known to millions as The Kitchen Diva – donated several books, manuscripts, photographs, awards, and research papers to the Carver Museum. Now, they’ve been curated and presented as this new exhibition.
This show unites the work of Austin art educators Kiley Grantges and Jennifer Schroeder. Grantges elevates drinking straws and office copy paper into bas-relief arrays; Schroeder reconstitutes the exuberant mess resulting from her young students’ art explorations into paper mosaics.
Austin Bat Cave, a nonprofit organization that offers free creative writing programs to local youth ages 6 to 18, is holding a school supplies drive through April.
