Helping fill the gap left by Childish Gambino’s cancellation, Vince Staples makes up for his weekend-two-only ACL Fest 2018 appearance with a second local performance. Breaking in 2015 on Summertime ’06, the rapper documented the crippling nature of gang culture over eclectic production. A former Crip, the Southern Californian, 25, reps his hometown while yearning for a black successor to Barack Obama in the Oval Office. Compton rapper Buddy (Simmie Sims III) and San Marcos rap collective PNTHN support. – Derek Udensi
