Tribu Baharú, Kiko Villamizar

Bogotá’s Tribu Baharú fuses the coastal sounds of Afro-Colombian champeta with the rolling guitar of Congolese soukous and bits of Caribbean calypso and West African highlife. The deluge of diasporic sounds crafts an intoxicating cocktail tailor-made for dance floors. Local Colombian folk songbird Kiko Villamizar opens the show with a shot of Aguas Frías. – Thomas Fawcett
