Tinariwen, Lonnie Holley

Better cast under desert stars than theatre roofs, multi-generational Tuareg collective Tinariwen plies lightly electrified guitar work and tende-spurred rhythms that weave Tamasheq poetry with indigo-soaked melodies evoking the tranquility of melancholia. First, Alabama-born artist Lonnie Holley spheres mood over melody, painting reflected atmosphere through his immersive, multidirectional meditations. – Rick Weaver
