The Spits, Trouble Boys, Mujeres Podridads, Muther

A rarity in punk: 25 years in, the Spits are at the top of their game. The wild bunch, formed in Michigan in the early Nineties by brothers Sean and Erin Wood, mimic a frantic, garage-punk Ramones and often wear lo-fi stage getups – including balaclavas – during their reckless live shows. Perfected local pairings slot them with leather-jacketed street rock trio Trouble Boys, riot grrrl en Español act Mujeres Podridas, and thrash’n’rollers Muther. – Kevin Curtin
