Jeff Parker & the New Breed, Jaimie Branch's Fly or Die, King Coffey (DJ set)

Genre-agnostic axe slinger Jeff Parker balances experimental indie rock via Tortoise and Isotope 217 alongside jazz collective Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians and shows with Chicago Underground Trio, Jason Moran, and more. 2016’s The New Breed represents the Angeleno’s funky, psychedelic swirl. New York trumpeter Jaimie Branch, a Sonic Transmissions vet, debuts her Fly or Die ensemble after last year’s eponymous bow. King Coffey of Butthole Surfers and USA/Mexico spins between sets. – Michael Toland
