When Donna the Buffalo stampeded the new Old Settler’s Music Fest last 4/20, the upstate New York folk and jamgrass herd sawed some fiddle, squeezed some zydeco, and yin-yanged across the stone sound songcraft of band axis Jeb Puryear and Tara Nevins. “Old-time fiddle music has a history of people playing together …, [so] the music is very quick and exciting,” the former told the Chronicle. By year’s end, DTB’s 11th album Dance in the Street continued the quintet’s irresistible rhythmic slink under the front duo’s Americana seduction. – Raoul Hernandez
