“Oooooooooooooh, no, I’ll never get over youu until I find something new,” the Londoner sang on beautifully simple 2018 breakout “Boo’d Up.” Despite getting signed to hitmaker Mustard’s 10 Summers label in 2016 – and the fact that “Boo’d Up” simmered for over a year before reaching its U.S. Billboard peak at #5 – she demonstrated an ability to create enjoyable, retro-styled R&B devoid of trap drums and a “Mustard on the beat, hoe!” tag. In 2022, Heart on My Sleeve ended the near four-year wait after her debut LP with a more polished formula of love songs.
